Content Website Marketing

Content as Link Bait!
What, Am I Crazy?

Yes. Crazy like a fox.

You see, aside from doing the heavy lifting in selling, often times the highest and best use for content is as bait for links.

Sure you want keyword focused content that ranks high. And if you don’t have pages that do so, what good is your site anyway?

But realistically not every page on your site is going to.

And you’re right again. Each page you add to your site has the potential to bolster the internal PR generated. As each page can contribute PR 1 to the overall total.

Besides, haven’t you added pages simply for the info they convey? Not necessarily with Google in mind.

Sure you have.

I have too.

All this adds to the knowledge base that is your site. Or at least should. Giving it heft. Breadth. Bolstering the reputation it carries as an authority site.

All that increases the appeal of your site to potential link partners. Which make content as bait for links a perfectly legit strategy.

Not one you’d want to have in mind with every page you put up to be sure. But for some pages it sure can’t hurt.

Especially once you realize that links are the offspring of content it makes it all the more of a sound strategy.

Not your typical point of view for the best use of content I’ll admit. But one that works in certain situations none the less.

Of course these are just a few of the basics. In my book " Traffic from Google in 35 Days!" I devote many pages to showing you ways to get links and improve your search engine rankings. If you haven't downloaded your copy just go here now to find out more.
