Hit a Hundred Yet?

What does a hundred have to do with a discussion about brainstorming some free web marketing strategy?

Plenty.

I pleasantly and quite unexpectedly discovered the air became much less turbulent once my site attained 100 pages of content.

So you might say hitting 100 page is the little known free web marketing strategy that can boost your site in the likes of Google, MSN etc.

How come?

Seems to me it all comes down to links. More precisely internal links.

You see, once you’ve got 100 pages of content you’re supersizing the power of those internal links enough for you to begin to rank well for some of the lesser keyword phrases in your niche. You know, the ones that haven’t been optimized to death?

Add to that 15-20 high pagerank external links and you’re on your way.

Now I don’t want you to get the idea that 100 is a magic number. Or to confer some kind of special meaning to it. Like if you say it backwards you’ll discover the meaning of life. Or if you squeeze it hard enough it will give up a splendid free web marketing strategy.

But 100 pages of content means at least 100 internal links to play with.

100 pages of content means you can honestly say you’ve got a site that says something. Means something. Who knows might even impress someone?

100 pages of content also makes it easier to attract those coveted high PR external links.

Now if you just fell off your chair at the thought of creating 100 pages of content let’s talk. I mean you’re here looking for a free web marketing strategy right? So listen. If it don’t cost money you can bet it gonna cost time. In this case the time it takes to come up with 100 pages of content.

That's just how life works - since there ain’t no free lunch.

Just treat it like eating an elephant. Not all in one big gulp but a bite at a time. Simply decide to create two pages a day and in a little over six weeks you’ll be there.

Besides, do you really believe a tiny site with five pages is going to be able to overcome the established sites in your niche? Maybe. But highly doubtful.

You gotta give yourself the ammunition to at least begin winning on the margins. And 100 pages, or something close is just what you need.

Of course pages that are optimized properly aren’t going to take you where you want to go.

Now I personally think that taking the time to learn how to optimize pages yourself is one of the best investments you can make. It might even be THE best investment.
