Keyword Marketing Is More
Than Keyword Proximity

Keyword proximity also plays a role, albeit minor, in keyword marketing. What it comes down to is this. Are they real close?

Here we're talking keyword phrases. And by close I mean the words making up the phrase are physically close together within the text.

So if you have a three word phrase you don't have those three word present on the page but in separate paragraphs. Rather they appear as the phrase. Or close to the phrase.

Reason being you get more points from Google by placing your keywords closer together.

Maybe an example would help
Say you keyword phrase was "doll houses". You could write…
"We have a wide selection of doll houses."

"Dolls need someplace to live. Our houses are hand crafted."
The first one has better keyword proximity and would rank higher for "doll houses" if keyword proximity was the only factor taken into account. The rule of thumb again being closer is better.

Some feel it helps to repeat the keyword phrase, just not the exact keyword phrase. I don't know. Seems more trouble than it's worth. It's hard enough to write keyword laden prose that flows without splitting the phrase up like the second example.

But should you see the term, at least you'll know what it means.
