Are One Way Links Right for YOU?

One way links are just what it says. You get a link without having to give a link.

While reciprocal links are good, I like others feel one way links are in some way even better. Because Google treats them as an endorsement of your site. One that says it has to be good ‘cause there was no quid pro quo.

Still are one way links right for YOU?

Let’s find out by looking at some examples.

Now you can get these one way links in many ways. Most of which are FREE!

First you can post an article on someone else’s site.

BAM! There’s your one way link from the resource box back to your site.

This is an excellent way to not only get a one way link but to build your reputation online as well. Plus generate a steady stream of traffic. Sorta like the gift that keeps on giving.

Or add your two cents to an online discussion forum. Stick a link at the end and once again that can in some circumstances be treated as a one way link. (Depends on whether the forum is set up to be crawled and indexed by googlebot or not.)

Sign a guest book. Sure there’s potential for abuse for those who go crazy with this, but once again you’ve got a one way link.

What about snagging a link in a directory like DMOZ, Yahoo or JoeAnt? You’re right. Once again a one way link.

It’s even better if it’s a directory in your niche. Which you can find using this trick.

That’s the basic template you’d insert into your browser. Simply replace kw1 and kw2 with your keyword phrase.

Doing so for "asian furniture" the URL to stick in your browser looks like this:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22asian+furniture%22+directory

Once I hit Enter, Google returned these results…

Searched the web for "asian furniture" directory. Results 1 - 10 of about 4,930

4,930? That should keep you busy for awhile, don’t you think? Even if you just find 10 legit niche directory candidates to link from you’re ahead of the game right?

Want one more? Okay what if you buy a small text ad on a site?

To make that work all you do is find a few related sites that rank high in Google. Viola! For a few bucks you’ve got yet another one way link.

Don’t think this will work? Well, I know of one guy who did this. Got an ad on the 4th largest site on the ‘net in their niche for about $5 a month. Pretty cheap link if you ask me. Pretty darn clever too.

So while trading links is a great way to help your rankings don’t forget about one way links. They’re another tactic that can drive traffic too. Which I’d say makes them right for you and just about anyone else.
