search engine ranking seo strategy web site optimization How to Use Minor Search Engine Directories to Get Into Google in 21 Days or Less - Guaranteed!Bold promise I know. But one I can back up from personal experience with minor search engine directories. You see, we are all told that the first search engine directory to submit our new web sites to is DMOZ - or the Open Directory Project. Not so much for the traffic but for the coveted link (read Seal of Approval) that all but guarantees your site is Google bound. Because the link’s the thing. Problem is, DMOZ editors are volunteers. To make matters worse they’re flooded with site submissions - not to mention up to their necks in spam. Besides they’ve got lots of more important things to do than wade through the spam. Result? Your genuine, red hot non-spam site submission can sit. And sit. And sit some more. For some of the more active categories, it can be a couple of months (or more) before your site shows up. And only after a bit of persistent follow up on your part. But there is a better way. One that I’ve used successfully to get two brand new sites listed in Goggle literally within days of opening for business. That is use minor search engine directories as your ticket into Google. Which Minor Search Engine Directories Should You Use?Good question. You see, there are refugees from now defunct go.com who are opening up their own search engine directories. These are crawled all the time by Google. Making them the perfect first link to get to insure your site gets in on the Google glory. So the two go-like directories I've used with great success: GoGuides and JoeAnt. In both cases my listing showed up within a few of days of submission. And my site showed up in Google as of the next monthly update. Not bad huh? From what I can see, such blazing speed is the norm with these both of them. Especially if you follow a couple of simple rules. Key to Minor Search Engine Directories Success: Titles and DescriptionsThat's right. Take a peek at any listings in these two directories and you'll notice right away that your title and your description is what drives both of them.As far as your description goes, to avoid unnecessary editing, stay on the straight and narrow. That is no hype. No fluff. No puffery. Simply write a nice, short, simple description of your site. Naturally what descriptive text shows is ultimately up to the editor. But you want to write it so no editing is required. Because doing so makes it easy to say yes. Which just also happens to make for faster inclusion. Mine appears exactly as I wrote it. Granted such a "dull as dish water" listing probably won’t inspire a lot of click thrus. But that isn't the goal of this exercise. Getting into Google in 21 days or less is. Because once in, you can then tweak your way to top search engine ranking. Same with your title. KISS applies. Keep It Simple uh, Silly. How's that? The title will be your company name, your site's name, maybe your url. That's about it. KISS. TITLE TIP: GoGuides Listings are broken down into three groups. 3's, 2's and 1's. Which you can see represented as stick figures on the extreme right hand side. Within those three break downs, the listing are alphabetical by Title. Titles starting with numbers come first. Admittedly, unless and until traffic from GoGuides blossoms, this is good to know rather than critical to know. But down the road you may want to do as was done for years with Yahoo. Find a way to start you title with a number or the letter "A". Universal Search Engine Directory Category PickerNext the trick with any directory is to pick the right category. If it’s not obvious here's a handy Category Finder you can use with GoGuides, JoeAnt, Traffick.com or any such directory. In no time you’ll have a good idea which category to go for. So to sum this up, getting a listing in GoGuides or JoeAnt will: 1. Help Google find your site 2. Boost your link popularity 3. Give you a backlink in Google 4. If these search engine directories grow like DMOZ - Google might rate your site as important too. Remember, traffic from GoGuides or JoeAnt or any of the other minor search engine directories isn’t the goal here. Instead the goal is to use them as your entre into Google. Which is to say - the link’s the thing. Get More Ways to Improve Search Engine Ranking HereThis 148 page guide reveals a step by step plan for getting into Google FAST.
