TIP#7: When it comes to the keyword tag try to limit it to 3 to 5 words/phrases. Put them in order of importance moving from most to least. Repeating the most important keyword twice seems to work best with some search engines. (Just remember your mileage may vary. Better to error on the side of caution than go hog wild.)

TIP#8: Even though it helps, you don't get a keyword rich domain for search engines. You snag one for directories. That's because when Yahoo does it's thing it looks for keywords in the:

  • Category Name
  • URL
  • Title
  • Description

So the more keywords you can get in those spots better.

Also although hotly debated, it seems better to use hyphens in your domain name. Because not all directories can parse keywords that aren't separated by hyphens.

TIP#9: Since titles are so important here's another search engine placement pointer. Shoot for shorter page titles. Test 40 characters or less to see how that works for you. Also use your primary keywords in the page title but maybe not as the first word (try words like find, here's, or the.)

Search Engine Placement TIP#10: A critical page is your site map. Site maps are search engine spider food. And why not? With links to every page that counts they make it easy for search engines to index your site.

For that reason, make sure you submit your site map page. Be sure to use keywords in all links to your internal pages and go easy on the graphics.

TIP#11: Patience Camille. Don't expect to find your page in any search engine 2 days after submitting it. Won't happen.

So go ahead. Try these on for size. Yeah, give 'em a shot. The only thing you've got to lose is being lost in a sea of listings. Buried too far down to matter.
