Search Engine Theme Success: "It’s About Content Stupid!"

For some Page Rank is THE thing. Something to be sought after. Something to celebrate.

But hey! Here’s an idea. Stop obsessing about that little greenline that shows PageRank in Google’s Toolbar.

Because to paraphrase Bill Clinton… "It’s About Content Stupid!

That’s what leads to search engine success. It ain’t your Page rank.

So instead of pagerank focus on content.
Content that attracts visitors.

Content that keeps them at your site.

Content built around a search engine theme.
Here are but two examples of themed web sites.
  • This first one, jugglenow.com, is a more "mature" themed web site. Unusual concept, no? But still lots of good content. Lots of reasons to for visitors to return. Lots of ways for the owner to make money.
  • Then here’s a newer site dealing with dish satellite tv that I’d bet would love to grow into a site like jugglenow.
Now you might watch both of them progress and expand. Growing in content while gaining more search engine sex appeal. All the while climbing higher in the search engine rankings.

Besides, it’s not that hard to do.

Succeed in developing a similar theme based web site and in bound links will come to you. High ranking in Google will soon follow. Due in part because your site will be seen as an authority. It must be! Why are so many other sites linking to it? So it will be regarded as such by the googlebot.

So yeah, you could say Google likes authority sites. Built around a core theme and a group of sub themes.

Structure Your Site for Search Engine Theme Success

To show you how, let’s use a hypothetical Flower Gardeners Dream site www.flowergardenersdream.com

Sub sections or sub themes found within that site could be…
  • Annuals www.flowergardenersdream.com/annuals
  • Roses www.flowergardenersdream.com/roses
  • Shade Lovers www.flowergardenersdream.com/shadelovers
  • Bulbs and Tubers www.flowergardeners.dreamcom/bulbs
  • Hostas www.flowergardenersdream.com/hostas
  • Perennials www.flowergardenersdream.com/perennials
  • Succulents www.flowergardenersdream.com/succulents
  • etc
Each sub theme could then be expanded to include quality content relating to
  • Seeds or Plant Sources
  • Review: New Varieties for 2003
  • Fertilizers
  • Rating the Supplies
  • Pest Control
  • Glossary of Terms
  • Growing Tips
…for that sub theme.

See how easy it is?

In essence you can quickly end up with at least 7 pages of content for roses, 7 pages for hostas plus 7 pages for perennials. With internal links from say the rose pest control page to all other pest control pages. Tying pages with a similar theme together into a little mini-network.

What Are The Advantages of Such a Theme Based Web Site Layout?

Most would consider such info a trade secret. But were a gun held to my head I’d reveal the following advantages…
Gives you a road map to easily create a web site with lots of related content

Let’s you zero in laser-like on tightly targeted keywords (one per page please) making it easy to optimize each page and unleash maximum search engine ranking power.

Gives Google (and it’s cousins) what they want as Google tends to like smaller pages. That is pages under 15k in size.

Creates an ready made navigation scheme. Making it easy for users to move around your site to find what they want. (Also lights the way for any bots looking to do the same thing.)

Offers a way to tie the whole shebang together with inter-related links to similar content found in each sub theme.
Seems like you’re getting a lot of bang for the buck, don’t you think?

Follow that simple scheme and in no time you’ve fleshed out an irresistible, content heavy search engine theme web site. Putting you squarely in the path of search engine success.

Doing so also proves you get it. That is, it’s content built around a web page theme is what counts most. Not page rank.

So it’s only reasonable to conclude that content laden sites that focus on specific search engine themes rule. Right? As the search engine theme is what determines your search engine ranking - which in turn controls your search engine success!
